The List....

So I have decided to create a list of healthy non food changes I want to make in my life. The first change on my list is self image.

Self Image

Where do I start.... hmmm why do I have self image issues... I a 100% sure that I have self image issues because of being made fun of in jr high. Well it is time to put that behind me! (baby steps...baby steps...)

So the first baby step was to Google self image.

The definition of self image: The idea, conception, or mental image one has of oneself. Self-Esteem - Respect or favorable image of oneself (Random House Dictionary)

so what does this mean to me...

Self-image is how you perceive yourself. How you actually feel about yourself, what you’re inside voice is saying to you about yourself.

As most of us know people see us totally different then how we see ourselves. These impressions are dependent on positives and negatives that have happened in your life previously. For most people the outside voice and an inside voice can be totally different. I know for me my outside voice lies like bitch to people that don’t know me very well. I come across as confidant and self assured woman. But my inside voice and my closet friends know that I truly do not have huge confidence in myself. Not in all aspects of myself. I know I am super smart, I know I am funny, I know I am a giving person, nonjudgmental, and forgiving. BUT what I am not confident about is how I look.

It’s that total internal voice... its crazy how much we judge ourselves. Why do we look in the mirror and say hmmm, man I look fat, or wow I have fat upper arms. Or when somebody complements us we don’t know what to say and get all embarrassed or crack a joke where we put ourselves down. When all we have to say is thank you. Or when we look in the mirror we say yep I look hot... We need to stop being harsh about ourselves. I do believe we should be critical of ourselves, but for other reason other than how we look but critical on how we treat others, how we treat ourselves, and to stop judging others.

Steps towards improving self image (from a website called changing woman’s perspective) :
 Stop giving yourself a hard time and start appreciating that you are a unique individual. Instead of comparing yourself to others, celebrate what's good about you.
Think of times you have tried something new and succeeded. What did you do? What steps did you take? How were you able to succeed? How did
 A challenge can be fun and rewarding. Learn what works for you. This can be fun and rewarding.
 Do things that you love doing. Join a team, start a band, volunteer. Do whatever makes you feel good.
 Accept compliments when people give them to you. Acknowledge that you are worthy of praise.
 Give yourself the right to make a mistake. Mistakes are a great opportunity to learn about yourself.
 Believe in yourself. Trust in your skills and talents. Celebrate what makes you unique.

hmm i think that is enought deep thoughts for me for one night!

other then that i had a great past week, this week i am going to work on my self image, my healthy eating, and working out.
